🌍 Building African travel, one project at a time

Hi, I’m Kubwimana Martin.

I’m a Burundian entrepreneur building tourism projects, digital platforms and partnerships that help more people discover Africa — starting from Burundi and expanding across the continent.

I run M Travel and Tours Burundi and I am building African Things To Do, a growing Africa-wide travel content network.

My Story

I grew up in Burundi with a simple belief — that even if you start with very little, you can build something meaningful through discipline, consistency and work.

Before entering tourism, I worked with several companies across different industries, helping them with marketing, branding, and website development. I learned how business works, how clients think, and how digital systems can help a company grow.

After years of working for others, I realized something important: I wanted to use my skills for my own country. I returned home and focused my energy on showing how beautiful Burundi is through tourism.

Step by step, M Travel and Tours Burundi and African Things To Do grew into long-term projects built on trust, consistency, and real impact.

What drives me

Showing the real beauty of Burundi & Africa, creating opportunity locally, and proving that someone from a small country can build big projects.

How I work

Honest, focused and partnership-driven. I prefer clarity, responsibility, and long-term thinking over shortcuts.

My Commitment to Promoting Burundi

A personal journey of service, visibility, and belief in my country.

Since 2016, I have dedicated my life to one mission: promoting Burundi as a peaceful, safe, and welcoming country.

When some people outside Burundi believed the country was unsafe, I responded with action — welcoming travelers, guiding them across the country, and letting them experience Burundi as it truly is.

Many visitors arrived with uncertainty, and left with respect and admiration for the warmth, peace, and humanity of Burundian people. They returned home carrying a new story — one based on truth, not rumors.

Tourism is more than travel — it is a bridge between cultures and a tool for peace and understanding.

Supporting Burundian Businesses Through Digital Visibility

I identified another challenge: many Burundian businesses have no online presence. To help local development, I voluntarily created free website pages for hotels, restaurants, cultural sites, and service providers — without cost and without obligation.

In many cases, owners were not even aware these pages existed. They simply noticed new clients arriving — including international travelers — who had discovered them online.

A Long-Term National Vision

This work is a long-term commitment to Burundi’s image, peace, and development. I remain committed to promoting Burundi through honest work, digital innovation, and human connection.

What I Do

Burundi Tours & Experiences

Through M Travel and Tours Burundi I coordinate authentic travel experiences: Gishora Drums, Lake Tanganyika boat tours, national parks, cultural villages, waterfalls, and tailor-made itineraries for solo travelers, couples and groups.

Africa Travel Content & Platforms

I build African Things To Do — a country-by-country Africa travel network that helps travelers discover destinations, plan trips, and connect with verified local experts and operators.

Marketing, Digital Strategy & SEO

I specialize in SEO, keyword research, content strategy, and website development — building digital systems that attract the right audience and perform long-term.

Partnerships & Visibility

I work with hotels, lodges, tour operators, activities, and travel brands that want stronger visibility and trusted positioning in front of international travelers.

Advising & Growth

I support founders and tourism teams with strategy, positioning, and operational clarity — with a focus on sustainable growth and trust.

What I Tried, What Didn’t Work, and What I Learned

Building anything meaningful requires trying, failing, learning, and continuing — this section reflects that journey.

Food O’Clock Restaurant

Food O’Clock was a restaurant project created with the goal of serving quality meals and creating local employment.

It faced operational and market challenges and did not continue long-term, but it taught me discipline, management, and resilience.

Rata Group – Printing Shop

Rata Group was a printing and services business supporting branding and printed materials for companies and individuals.

The experience strengthened my understanding of operations, competition, and sustainability in local markets.

Rata – Buy & Sell App

Rata was a buy-and-sell digital platform designed to connect sellers and buyers locally through a simple mobile experience.

It did not reach the adoption required to succeed, teaching me product-market fit, user behavior, and adoption challenges.

Job & Employment Platforms

I also worked on job and employment applications aimed at creating opportunities for young people.

These platforms did not reach sustainability, but they sharpened my skills in building systems and learning from reality.

Not every project succeeds — but every project teaches. I kept working, kept learning, and stayed committed to long-term impact.
